Photo Scanning Service

We offer a premium photo scanning service, in addition to a premium service for scanning artwork, graphics documents and fabric.

We use industrial, high-resolution A3 scanners that are painstakingly calibrated to provide accurate colour rendering.

These scanners are flatbed-type units that allow us to scan items without passing them through any feeding mechanism. This is particularly important when processing items of a delicate nature.

The scanners contain precision optics and are capable of a true optical resolution of 1600 pixels-per-inch (technically, samples-per-inch). They produce sharp images and are able to resolve subtle shadow and highlight detail as well as subtle colour gradations (that is, they have a high dynamic range and use a 48-bit / 16-bits-per-channel analogue-to-digital converter).

For highly effective noise reduction, particularly relevant to photos or items with significant dark areas (shadows), we offer single-pass multisampling with a sampling factor of either 4x or 8x.

All scanning is performed by skilled, experienced technicians.

Scanned files are saved to archival-grade cd or dvd disk. Please note that the scanner's ICC colour profile is tagged / attached to each scanned file, to facilitate effective soft-proofing.

The 'turnaround' time for our scanning service / photo scanning service (i.e. the time taken to prepare and deliver your order after we receive the item and after payment is completed) is typically three days if you are collecting your order from our office, or approximately seven days if you have chosen to have it delivered.
